A HIFU facial lifts the jawline, cheeks and neck with focused ultrasound, no surgery and no downtime. The energy passes through the surface of your skin and heats small points in the SMAS layer, the same sheet of tissue a surgeon tightens during a facelift. Those points contract on the day of the session, and your skin builds new collagen around them over the next two to three months, which is when the lift shows. HIFU works on mild to moderate sagging. Focused ultrasound heats small points at three depths under your skin. 4.5mm reaches the SMAS layer that holds the face up, 3.0mm reaches the deep dermis, 1.5mm sits closest to the surface. Each point contracts on contact, then your body builds new collagen around it. You get a firmer jawline, lifted cheeks and a tighter neck. Nothing is cut and nothing is injected.
It depends on how loose your skin already is. If you are in your thirties or forties, the jawline has softened, and the skin still springs back when you pinch it, HIFU buys you a visible lift for about a year. If the skin hangs and no longer springs back, one session will disappoint you and a surgeon will serve you better. Six to twelve months for most people. Your own collagen holds the result, so it fades the way collagen fades: faster if you smoke, spend hours in the sun without sunscreen, or lose weight fast. Most clients book one maintenance session a year. Ultrasound gives nobody a permanent result, and a clinic that promises one is selling you something else.
Redness, swelling and a tingling or numb patch along the jaw are common for a few days. Small bruises appear where the handpiece crosses bone. A numb patch can last two to four weeks when the energy passes near a nerve. Rare problems come from the wrong setting or the wrong depth: a burn, a dent where fat has thinned, or a weak muscle for a few weeks. Your therapist sets depth and energy from your own facial assessment, which is what keeps those risks rare.
For the first 24 hours skip the sauna, hot yoga, a hot shower on the face and alcohol. For three to five days leave retinol, AHA and scrubs out of your routine and wash with something plain. Wear SPF 50 every morning for two weeks, including indoors near a window. Book no other facial, peel or laser for two weeks. Makeup is fine on the same day.
For mild laxity, one session covers a year. For a heavier jawline or a neck with loose skin, most people need two sessions three to six months apart, because the second round works on the collagen base the first one laid. We do not sell a package on day one. Come for one session, look at your photos at the three-month mark, and decide then.
You feel heat and a deep prick each time the handpiece fires, strongest along the jawbone where the skin sits thin over bone. Most clients rate it 3 or 4 out of 10 and talk through the session. Tell your therapist when a line hurts and she drops the energy for that pass. Paracetamol an hour before the session helps if you are sensitive.

A cheap session with 100 shots and an expensive one with 500 are not the same treatment.
Yes. Ultrasound does not target pigment, so melanin does not absorb the energy the way it absorbs light from a laser or IPL. Filipino skin from fair to deep morena carries the same risk profile with HIFU, with no added risk of dark marks afterwards. Clinics reach for HIFU first with patients whose skin cannot take an aggressive laser.
Skip it if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, if you have an open wound, an active infection or cystic acne in the treatment area, or if you carry metal plates or an implant in the face or neck. Tell us about a pacemaker, a history of keloids, filler placed in the last two weeks, or Accutane in the last six months. The consultation covers all of this before anything is switched on.
